SINGAPORE (Ticker) - Singapore captain Indra Sahdan Daud has been offered a trial with Real Salt Lake and will travel to Miami on Wednesday night to attend the team's preseason training camp.
The Home United striker, who has 24 goals and 86 appearances for Singapore, played for his national side in their World Cup qualifier against Saudi Arabia last week and found out about the trial after returning from the Middle East on Friday.
"I've always dreamt of playing abroad one day and now the opportunity has come," Daud told the Straits Times. "They were actually trying to contact me when I was in the Middle East with the Lions, but my mobile phone wasn't turned on."
"When you see Indra's scoring record, that's as good a professional record as you can get anywhere in the world," Indra's agent, Dave Roberts said. "Now, they want to see if he can perform at that level in America. ... It's a great opportunity for him and for Singapore (soccer)."
