ImageThe time...9:00am, Sunday morning, June 17. The place...Glorietta Outdoor Recreational Center, that awesome Ayala activity center right between Gold's Gym and Shangri-La Makati. The itinerary...a showdown of skill and finesse from football clinics and schools all over the metro, interspersed with dribbling, juggling, and shooting competitions (for kids and dads), to the rhythmic beats of Afro, Hip-hop, and World music all within an inflatable football pitch. The verdict...Mizuno's Fathers Day surprise is a family fun filled tournament like no other.

Ten teams of budding and immensely skillful young booters participated in the Futkal Fiesta namely Futbol Funatics of head coaches Candice Grey and Avery del Rosario, PYSO teams A and B of Armand del Rosario and Ed Mallari, Union FC of Jeff Blake and Ayie Nii Aryee, Xavier FC, Santa Rosa FC, Manila Soccer Academy, and notably the brave rookie booters of Gawad Kalinga, GK Baseco teams A and B, and GK Ruby.



The drama taking place at the pitch is no less electric than that of a world match as the kids are cheered on by friends, team mates, coaches, and their number one fans their moms and dads!

After nine grueling elimination games Futbol Funatics, Union Football Club, Xavier Football Club and Gawad Kalinga B emerged ahead of the rest.

Xavier FC battled it out against Gawad Kalinga B in a penalty shoot out for 3rd place, where the former emerged as the victor.

Union FC was pitted against Futbol Funatics in the intense championship bout. Amidst pats on the back, high fives, clenched fists, and shouts, Union FC emerged the victor when star player skillful eight year old Ryan delos Reyes aimed a final shot for a 5-3 victory over Futbol Funatics.

2nd Runner Up Xavier FC walked away with the Futkal Fair Play Team Trophy. And though it was a close fight between Funatics' Harvey Gayoso and Union's Ryan delos Reyes, Unions victory ensured Ryan delos Reyes's place as MVP of the Futkal Fiesta.

Football activities were also included such us MIZUNO Juggling competition, RUSH Dribbling Competition, and Metro Active shooting competition. The winners went home with football souvenirs and premium items from sponsors.
