MANILA, Philippines (Inquirer) - I was a sheltered kid who didn’t even know how to ride a bike or play patintero, so when I broke the news to my loved ones that I would be playing football, they asked in amazement: “You can actually run?”
I don’t blame them. Because they know that when you say “Beckham,” I think of Victoria, not David.
Before football, the only sport I knew was billiards, but it was usually accompanied by beer so it didn’t count. I suck in badminton, too, where I’ve been in the dirt-low, bottom C bracket since I started playing on and off three years ago.
