The Beach Football Association of the Philippines (BFAP)is a distinct organization from the PFF. It has it's own administrative body and setup, although it's tournaments may be sanctioned by the PFF to act as a qualifying tournament for PFF, AFC or FIFA beach soccer competitions.

Organized beach soccer in the Philippines is still in it's infancy. it depends on the BFAP and it's chapters if they will form a selection or a champion team. this tournament is meant primarily to establish and promote this version of the sport. in due time, perhaps a system of champion teams from different chapters shall meet for a national title. in the meantime, let's help to promote the sport first.

beach soccer is a lot different than field football. a great player at the field may be ineffective in the sand and vice versa. beach soccer is more dependent on positioning than on passing. hesitate for a split second and a scoring/shooting opportunity dissipates. one will do well in the sand if he has great juggling skills. the quicker one lifts the ball off the sand and shoot, the greater the chances of scoring. stop the ball and attempt to dribble, and you will have a hard time scoring. put the ball on the air and people will see a lot of creative moves.

Aviles is more than ably supported by several sponsors and also by the Don Bosco Alumni FC/DBUnited, were he also is the president. This is just one of the football events this year that is partly organized by the DBAFC/DBUnited.

I just wonder why mr. athap, mr. aviles and mr. aribasturi will be the persons who will handpick the players who will represent cebu for the national event? would it be nice if we give the champion team the courtesy of selecting the players who will beef up his team for the national beachsoccer?
