By Jack Biantan LONDON - The RP men's team have set up camp in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo and are raring to start their preparation for the Asian Challenge Cup elimination tournament set in the middle of May also in Bacotac and Iloilo city. Team manager and coach Norman Fegidero yesterday said all the players included in the pool except for Ali Borromeo, and Fil-Britons Chris Greatwich, Phil Younghusband, James Hall and Fil-American Henry Brauner have arrived in Barotac and are ready to start their preparation on Easter Monday. Borromeo is still in Manila undergoing therapy for his injury while Greatwich have confirmed he will come but did not say when. Younghusband on the other hand was reported to report on April 27 while the PFF are still finalizing the trips of Everton reserve James Hall and American Henry Brauner. “The players’ morale are high. They are eager to start training. They will be ready in a few weeks time’’, Fegidero said. He also added that he has prepared a training program for the team. “Starting tomorrow it will be hard training for three weeks. Then we will see who can last’’, he added. Fegidero also announced that the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) is preparing a tour of Visayan cities for the Askals which will start in two weeks time. The tour will promote the ACC tournament and the national team. It will be the first time in many years that the Askals will show off their skills around the Visayas specially Dumaguete city, San Carlos city and Cebu city. They will tour Bacolod city Negros Occidental, Dumaguete city Negros Oriental, San Carlos city Negros Occidental, Cebu city, and then come back to Iloilo. They will play friendly games against top teams from the cities during the tour. Cebu Amateur Football Club (CAFC) wanted to invite the Askals for the Cebu National Inter-Club tournament set on April 27-May 4 but Fegidero said he might turn down the invitation because of tour. CAFC is set to formally invite the Askals after the Cebu Football Association (CFA) elections which is set on Saturday at the Bright Academy in Banilad.

Yes we did good, but personally i mean we couldve done better. We shouldve give Hiroshi fight till the end. We dont have so much experience as them yet. We are on the same page when it comes to PW. Hehehe Thirsty Cup was after Sinulog, and the field was in very bad condition, with big holes here and there and no grass. Talamban is a good field, but like you said it lacks bleachers. It is also a small field. Are there other fields with bleachers? Does the CIS field have bleachers? Doesnt matter if its far. I think the RP team can manage to get there. Hehehe

Precisely, SRRU have a good chance compared to DB Alumni on playing the AZKALS. You did very well and to your team last DENKER CUP. Your team even grabbed the best topscorer award. Congratulations. To Hiroshi? well, they didn't play last year but I don't think its a call to stop the critic that they are still unbeaten. For this year, well see if they will or can still grab the top spot. Paul Weiler? I hate that bald headed freak. Me? im just a fan. Abellana Field? is quite good nowadays compared to he Thirsty Cup. After SINULOG the grass had grown pretty well. CIS Field? they have a good field there same area as the USC-TC Field but its far though. MAB is a good field also but it lacks media outlet. no bleachers and no spectators. USC-TC? is too small for the seniors game....

Soccer soccer soccer... SRRU beat QC and we gave DB their only loss in the aboitiz league last year. We ended on 2nd place behind Hiroshi in last years Denker league. We should have a chance at playing against the RP team as well. Might as well mention the pinoysoccer team as well. Theyre a good team. QC are only good now because they got players from now defunct Crazy Horse. A quick fix as i might say. Hiroshi may be unbeaten, but last year they didnt play. There are more contenders in Cebu now, and i wouldnt expect Hiroshi to be unbeaten for a long time, specially not this year. They will be beaten. You will see. Who are you? You sound like the german. LOL Fields? Abellana is in bad condition, specially after Thirsty Cup. I dont think the RP would like to play on a crappy field like that, and risk injuries. CIS field? Never been there. Is it ok there? Talamban field is the best choice. Whats important is that the RP team gets to play on a decent field. Theyre used to hard fields anyway, so the Talamban field will do.

Very interesting part of it... ASKALZ will play! Venue? Coach Norman Fegifero hated USC-TC Football Field when it comes to sumemer. No Grass at all. I have recalled way back the past Cebu Inter Football Club 2003 or 2004 when Coach Nonoy complained about the field condition of USC-TC during their game (they were WEST NEGRROS then) they also have complained with thesame reasons to the Cebu City Sports Center known as Abellane Field. Question: What alternative field could the ASKALZ play like the pro's? With good media output and spectators on the cheer... 1. Proceed to Abellana? (Almost Standard but depending on its foeld condition during summer. With grandstand for the spectators. 2. USC-TC Football Field (Depending on its summer field condition) No bleachers for the spectators with smaller field area than Abellana. (With the ongoing bridge of Banilad, people might not go there) 3. C.I.S Football Field (way more far.) What's the best for it?

If the AZKALS will come here... No need to make a selection here just to play with the national team and it is very unfair for that. The askals might wanna pick top team from the top clubs to play with. Only a few top teams who coild resists these ASKALS. The won't play for low seeded teams for sure. Like we have Queen City,Don Bosco Alumni or the FC INTER CEBU who's players are from Hiroshi F.C Hiroshi FC is still unbeaten on the 11 aside and FUTSAL events since 2005 (Fot the record) DB Alumni is also a strong squad to be played and also Queen City United. That would be the 3 teams that I am willing to reccomend in this comment box if the ASKALZ will choose to whom they will play with.

FOOTBALLER, since CFCIA has good contact to CCTN TV, we will try to show up the Cebu promotion matches of AZKAL NT on www.CEBUFA.org. No promise yet, but we will try.
