![]() view gallery ILOILO CITY - The RP men's national football team will try to make RP sport history today (May 17), when the Azkals face Bhutan in their most important match of the Asian Challenge Cup Group B tournament. Match time is at 3:30 p.m. at the Barotac Nuevo field while at the same time Tajikistan will face Brunei at the Iloilo sports complex. The Azkals need to win by plenty of goals to overcome the Tajiks who have scored three goals in total. The Azkals have scored only one goal against Brunei. Certainly the pressure is on them as Bhutan might deny them of an outright entry to the Challenge Cup final in India in August. But if the Azkals play the way they played against the Tajiks for sure Bhutan will be an easy prey as coach Norman Fegidero will go all out to secure an impressive win. Once again the Azkals defense will be anchored on central defender Ali Borromeo who has been the saviour for the Azkals many times in their past two games. His patented sliding tackle is feared by their opponents and has saved the Azkals many times. He will getting a helping hand from his support group Anton del Rosario, Phil Greatwich, and Jobel Bermejo. Anton will take over the spot abandoned by the red carded Cordova while Phil will slide down again from the midfield. Chris Greatwich will once again marshal the midfield with James Younghusband and Chieffy Caligdong securing the wings. Who will replace Phil Greatwich at the middle will be a toast between Robert Canedo, Ricardo Becite, and Glester Sobremisana. Phil Younghusband and Chad Gould are expected to star again up front. But they need to step this time and should score goals. They have been firing blanks the past two games and they need to push forward to find the back of the net many times or else substitutes Ian Araneta, Ruben Doctora, Floriano Pasilan, Peter Jaugan, and Jovin Bedic are waiting to be used anytime. Fulham reserve goalie Neil Etheridge is expected to be th main man between the posts.
