Canduman, Springdale move to 12-Under finals |

CEBU CITY (SunStar) - Canduman FC advanced to the championships after a 3-2 come-from-behind win against Pomeroy in their semifinal match of the 12-Under category of the 8th Inter-Club Football Cup at the Springdale football grounds.
Canduman was down by two goals in the first half after a relentless offense by Pomeroy.
Tata Remedio gave Pomeroy the 1-0 advantage after a header in the eighth minute and Kurt Cuizon increased the lead with a goal eight minutes later.
Despite the advantage, Suddenly, Pomeroy found itself on the defensive after Vince Duazo shaved the lead with a goal at point -blank range in the 19th minute.
At the start of the second half, Pomeroy regained its composure and was starting to attack the Canduman FC goal aggressively but failed because of Canduman FC’s stifling defense.
In the 48th minute, the crowd of parents grew wild as Vic Felecida struck past Pomeroy FC’s goalkeeper to tie the game, 2-2.
Mark Arranguez of Pomeroy tried to carry the offensive charge but his superb dribbling skills failed to break past the Canduman FC defense and the marvelous goalkeeping of Jaybee Malinao, who pulled save after save.
With just a minute left in the clock, Richel Vilarba donned the hero’s cap as he stunned the Pomeroy defense with a strike that breezed past through the goalkeeper to give Canduman FC the 3-2 victory.
Earlier, the bigger Springdale team edged out FC Inter-Cebu, 1-0.
A quick goal by Lorenzo Escobe in the first minute of the game did the job for Springdale.
Canduman FC will face Springdale tomorrow in the championships at the same venue.
Meanwhile, in the Men’s Open category, FC Inter Cebu edged Pinoysoccer.com, 3-2; Queen City United crushed Team Cebu City, 3-0; and College United defeated Nasipit, 5-1.
In today’s semifinals, Queen City United will face Pinoysoccer.com, while College United will take on Group A No. 1 FC Inter Cebu.
In the 15-Under category, Springdale won against FC Inter Cebu, 3-2; Sacred Heart Jesuits destroyed Ciudad, 7-1; and Abellana defeated Sta. Rita, 2-0.
Springdale will face Don Bosco Technology Center, while Abellana will play FC Inter Cebu in semifinal round tomorrow at the San Roque football grounds.
In the 38-above category, Queen City-A trampled Valiant, 7-0, while Queen City-B drew with San Roque Royal United.
