ImageMANILA (ManilaTimes) - The Union Football Club will hold the Kellogg’s Cup Youth tournament on May 3 to 4 at the Ateneo de Manila University field in Quezon City.

The two-day event, which brings together 672 players from 14 schools in Metro Manila, aims to build camaraderie and sportsmanship among the students and their families.

Commissioner Jerry Andres said the tournament, also supported by Alaska Fresh and Alaska Slim, will have competitions in the boys’ 11-under, 9-under and 7-under, and girls’ 13-under divisions.

Participating schools are Brent, International School Manila, Japan International School, Ateneo, La Salle Greenhills, De La Salle-Zobel, Multiple Intelligence School, Faith Academy, Poveda, Miriam College, Xavier School, Immaculate Conception Academy, Learning Child and Don Bosco.

Kellogg’s senior marketing director Teddy Villaflor believes the well-loved breakfast cereal is the perfect partner for the tournament as it shares the same objectives of promoting healthy living through sports and a healthy diet.

Union Football Club has been instrumental in promoting futsal or indoor football in the country. It established the first futsal school for the youth, UFC coach Ross Calixterio of Canada, who is also the football division of Mizuno, and Romario Gaucho of Brazil conduct classes twice a week in futsal court for kids 15 years and below.

UFC also runs the Union Football School, which was set up last year and is headed by Aldrick Diaz.

I think the UFC should hold the Kellog cup next year here in Visayas as we always produce the best football players in the country without any bloodlines from the fil-foreigners.
