DAVAO (SunStar) - The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Men's Southern Mindanao Finals will kick off on July 18 to 20 at the Tionko Field.
Davao Football Association (DFA) secretary-general Erwin Protacio Tuesday said Davao City will be bannered by top selected players.
"Host Davao team will be a mixed team of varsity players and veterans, a combination of youth and experience. Coach Ryan Albert "Abing" Lim will have yet to submit the city's line-up," Protacio said.
Compostela Valley and Davao del Norte are expected to put up a stiff challenge against the host squad. Davao del Sur, however, has no entry in the all-Davao Region qualifying meet for the national finals set in Dumaguete late this year. It has been awhile since Davao City won a men's national championship.
This year's selection team has the opportunity to redeem lost glory of the city that was once considered a football powerhouse in the country.
Protacio said the PFF, which is the organizer of the event, will appoint the officials and referees for the regional bootfest. (MLSA)
