RP team head coach Norman Fegidero Jr. By Henry C. Villalva

BACOLOD (SunStar) - The final lineup of the national men's side that will represent the country in the 2008 Asian Challenge Cup group 2 qualifiers from May 11 to 20 in Iloilo, will be out by the end of April, said RP team head coach Norman Fegidero Jr.

Fegidero on Wednesday told Sun.Star Bacolod in a telephone interview that he intends to finalize the lineup last week of April and that his decision will hinge mainly on the performance of the hopefuls who are currently undergoing tryouts in the training camp he is supervising at the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Regional Training Center in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.

Fegidero, a former standout of the RP team who played heroics for the country when he booted in the lone goal that eliminated Malaysia in the 1991 Manila
Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, confirmed he already stricken out prospective lineup Fil-Am defender Henry Brauner.

But he did not categorically state whether he is still awaiting the arrival of Fil-British midfielder Philip Younghusband and three other Fil-foreign booters who earlier expressed interest in joining the national team for the Asian Challenge Cup.

Fegidero said he was also informed of the arrival of James Younghusband to the country, but the latter has yet to report to him. The elder Younghusband was said to have arrived last Saturday to claim his place in the RP squad.

The incumbent West Negros University varsity head coach earlier hinted his preference of taking into the team Fil-foreign standouts willing to come early and join the training camp with the rest of the prospective team members. He said he was inclined to get Fil-British Chris Greatwich, but might be forced to drop him if the latter could not commit to come early for training camp.

Also hoping to be drafted to the national squad are Negrenses Archie Bayquin, Arnie Pasinabo, Floriano Pacilan and Michael Casas of the University of St. La Salle; Robert Cañedo, Joel Ballo-allo, Joeven Bedic and Lemuel Unabia of WNU as well as Manila-based Alejandro Montelibano Jr., Edward Sacapaño and Edmundo Mercado Jr. Fegidero could not also immediately confirm the exact date of team Bacolod's swing for a series of tune-ups against local teams except to say that it may be anytime this month.

I hope the can come to CEBU and choose to play againts the best team in CEBU ...

Take Note:

1. FC INTER CEBU or Formerly players from HIROSHI F.C are still intact and haven't been replaced from their crown of 11 aside and futsal event since 2004...

2. Queen City United combined with the cebu city's finalist team CRAZY HORSE who almost won the Aboitiz Championship last 2006 by loosing a single point againts Hiroshi.

3. Don Bosco Alumni F.C an average team but quite strong to play againts with.

4. San Roque F.C can manage a line up who would clim the latter if the surpass the teams mentioned above. Yet, they are the recent Thirsty Cup 7 aside champions for 36, 38 above category and SENIORS open DIvision.

5. San Roque United is a new team a counter part for the San Roque F.C...they are neighbors though but have different views of interegrity in expressing football in their comunity... Good Team though, they are the Silver awardee next to HIROSHI F.C on the DENKER CUP held in M.Air Base and grabbed the best Top Scorer award of 14 goals.

Those are the top 5 Club Teams in CEBU for my opinion that the AZKALS may choose to play againts with.

How about you guys? who's your bet to play againts the AZKALS?
