CEBU CITY (SunStar) - Team Cebu City toiled under the hot summer sun for a hard-earned 2-0 win over the tough San Roque Royal United in a physical match yesterday in the 8th Cebu Football Inter-Club at the University of San Carlos-Technological Center.

Both teams were equally aggressive on the offensive end with their shots finding their targets.

In the ninth minute of regulation, Venjor Gomora gave TCC the 1-0 advantage with a goal from the left side near, with his shot just inches away from the outstretched hands of SRRU keeper Erwin Ybanez.

TCC didn’t let up on the offensive and after another barrage, Ybañez was forced to a save but was given a yellow card after an elbow on Jerson Omons.

His unsportsmanlike behavior hurt the team as Ryan Bordalba capitalized and converted the penalty in the 22nd minute for the 2-0 lead.

Frustrated after being down by two goals, SRRU committed the same mistake as Ronald Cañas hit Omnos with an elbow. But this time the referee wasn’t as lenient and gave him a red card.

The referee also gave Omnos a yellow card.

With only nine players, the SRRU team tried hard for a comeback into the game but failed.

TCC now has a 2 wins with no loss, while SRRU now has a 1 win, 1 loss and 1 draw record.
