Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard wants to sign Lazio midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, if Chelsea’s FIFA imposed transfer ban is lifted before the start of the January transfer window.
According to the daily posts, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS, has announced that Chelsea’s appeal against the transfer ban by FIFA, for breaking the rules regarding the signing of youth players from Abroad will be heard on November 20.
The ban was served after it was confirmed they broke the rules in the transfer of young players from Abroad. Should Chelsea win the appeal they will be free to add players in the winter transfer window and the Lazio ace is very much in the sight of the blues manager.
Chelsea are short of number in midfield, Loftus Cheek and Ross Barkley are both out injured and the addition of Savic who is also on the radar of Premier League giant Manchester United will be a welcome addition to the squad.
According to Sunday Mirror, Milinkovic-Savic is high on Lampards shortlist of incoming players when their ban is rescinded. The report also states that Chelsea will submit an offer to Lazio for the midfielder in January, provided their ban is lifted. Milinkovic-Savic is an integral part of Lazio’s team this season.
The Blues have also been linked with a move for Philippines Goalkeeper Neil Etheridge according to reports from Wales. Etheridge was one of the top players for Cardiff City last season making impressive saves despite their ill-fated relegation campaign.
It is understood that current Chelsea number two Willy Caballero is on his way out of the club in the summer. Etheridge is seen as an ideal backup for current number one Kepa and could make the move to the club in the summer. It remains to be seen how this transfer will pan out in the coming weeks.
